The La Vérité story

In 2008, Pete released a pet project called La Verite which translates to “the truth.” He had been frustrated with other cigar manufactures producing cigars claiming to be a certain vintage when, in fact, very little to no tobacco from the claimed year was actually being used. So, he took things the opposite direction and decided to produce a true vintage cigar. He followed the French wine concept of vintage in this line of cigars. He initially offered the cigars on a “futures” basis; similar to how many fine Boudreaux wines are sold. Each year’s release is slightly different, but they all use tobacco from only the stated year and only from Don Pepin’s farm in La Estrella, Nicaragua. They are all manufactured in Nicaragua. Additionally, Pete does a second run of cigars known as L’esprit de Verite; the cigars are smaller and come in lower capacity boxes. All cigars are sold in slide lid boxes. The La Verites are produced in boxes of 10, 25, 50, and 100. The L’esprits are only produced in boxes of 10 and 25. The cigars are not released based on the year stated on the box; the year stands for the year the tobacco was grown. 2008 The cigars were comprised of 100% Habano Criollo.
