📜 CigarShare Manifesto 📜
Pre Light Notes
Pre light flavor notes are not part of the cigar smoking experience. These notes can be very desirable on a cold draw or off the wrapper and foot. However, they rarely translate to a lit cigar. The scent of an unlit cigar can be used to identify the types of tobacco in a cigar. Pre light notes should be enjoyed and analyzed, but they are outside the scope of the cigar smoking experience. Therefore, CigarShare does not account for pre light notes.
Aroma
Aroma is defined as: the second hand smoke of a lit cigar as smelt by the nose. Aroma is often enjoyed by others in the room or passersby. However, to the cigar smoker, it is an inconsequential facet of the cigar smoking experience. CigarShare accounts for flavor notes tasted on the palate, finish, and retrohale. Aroma is a byproduct purposely unaccounted for by CigarShare.
Body
Body is a term borrowed from the wine industry. It is ubiquitously and haphazardly used in the cigar world to reference nicotine strength, flavor intensity, and smoke volume and by any iteration thereof. Unfortunately in the cigar world, the attenuated definition has no bearing on the objectivity of data recording during a cigar smoking experience. Therefore, CigarShare omits the use of the term body.
Session Timer and Timeline
CigarShare utilizes a session timer from the start through the finish of your smoking experience. This allows all data points to be time-stamped and tracked as they occur. Every input is logged in the timeline. Our methodology advantageously allows for maximization of data objectivity and minimization of bias and error.
Performance Ratings
The performance of a cigar consists of construction, flavor profile, and strength. The traditional methods of rating a cigar generally quantify these categories (and often others) at the end of a smoking experience and by an aggregated figure usually represented on a 100 pt scale. Bias, subjectivity, ambiguous terminology, and human error negatively impact this unstandardized method. CigarShare tracks the performance of your smoking experience as it happens. Each of the performance categories are tracked independently throughout the smoking experience. Our method grants pure objectivity and granularity in ratings for each performance category. We have also built in a 100 pt conversion that is weighted 20% for construction and 80% for flavor profile. This is dubbed the “experience rating”.
